OUR STORY
In March 2020, Teacher Porsha, much like countless other NYC artists, faced the stark reality of unemployment and an uncertain future. Fast forward to September, she embraced a new role as a full-time nanny for an incredibly creative, sweet, and lively little girl. Together, they navigated the challenges of virtual learning, shared lunches, explored the wonders of Prospect Park, and, of course, reveled in the joy of play.
Observing the little girl's fondness for dance, Teacher Porsha extended a heartfelt offer to teach her ballet once a week. As weeks unfolded, Porsha witnessed not just the development of dance skills but the blossoming of a genuine love for the art. The enthusiasm became infectious, prompting them to invite the daughter's best friend to share in the joy of those dance classes.
In those moments, Porsha found more than a job; she unearthed a profound passion for teaching the little ones. It wasn't just about dance; it was about fostering growth, curiosity, and the pure, unfiltered joy of learning.
Three months down the road, Porsha's deep love for dance and child development has ignited a transformative journey. It has given birth to "Pixie Pods," not merely a business but a heartfelt endeavor where Porsha's calling to nurture and inspire young minds takes center stage.!
Our Mission
Pixie Pods is a mobile enrichment studio that brings dance, acrobatics to children ages: 3-9, primarily in Brooklyn, with select offerings in Manhattan and Queens.
We specialize in school break camps, summer camps, private PODs, and birthday/party entertainment, creating fun and engaging experiences for young movers. Our private lessons and Private Pod classes take place wherever families feel most comfortable—whether it’s a local park, a rooftop garden, or their own living room.
At Pixie Pods, our mission is to create a positive, inclusive classroom—free from manipulation, shame, or fear—where children of all abilities can thrive. Too often, traditional education relies on outdated teaching methods that fail to support every child’s unique learning style. Instead, our team embraces child-led, progression-based learning, ensuring that every child, regardless of ability, feels empowered and supported. When kids learn because they love it, they flourish—and that’s what we’re all about!
